Disney Dixit is coming this Autumn! The delightful all-ages game of storytelling and imagination is getting a touch of princess sparkle and mouse magic as part of the Disney 100th anniversary celebrations.
The premise is simple, working off a deck of images. Each turn, one player as “Storyteller” makes up a sentence from one of 6 cards in their hand; the other players pick a card of their own that best matches the sentence, and then everyone has to guess which storyteller’s card. It’s delightfully and deceptively simple, and ticks the all-ages box perfectly as a small child can legitimately play - and win - against older and/or experienced gamers. The game is designed for 3-8 players, and is a gentle, but no less satisfying, experience. With many expansions or fantastical, Dreamlike art already, it's an established favourite.
But, it's worth mentioning that where the new version is bound to succeed is in the way it will provide clearer prompts, ideal for the younger, or less poetic, players. It also makes the game immediately more accessible, and so more viable as a gateway to other games (much like the many thematic versions of Dobble - ooh, I could totally go a Star Wars Dixit, come to think of it).
So, I think it’s fair to say Disney Dixit is going to see its way on onto a whole lot of Christmas lists!
