Hot on the heels of everyone’s favourite entry level card game, Point Salad, comes Flat Out Games’ highly anticipated follow up, Point City. Recently announced on twitter, Flatout Games went to ‘town’, announcing the bright, light, engine building card game.
The Tweet reads - “Co-published with @alderac and coming in 2023, this follow-up to Point Salad is a simple engine-building card game that features dynamic city-grid drafting and brilliant art by @DylanMangini!”
Looking at the image above, the game does look bright, light and certainly follows in the same vein as Point Salad, which my family still love. Games like this are great to bring new people into the hobby but are also great palette cleansers or quick experiences to slot in between big game night games.
You can sign up now on FlatoutGames.com and get the latest updates. It also does explain a bit more about the game. It seems even though the game is verys similar to Point Salad, there is an added layer of complexity with the engine building/resource management systems.
The blurb on the website does make it sound a step up from its predecessor, promising 150 unique building cards, a different experience every time you play and the ability to use resource cards and bonuses to expand your city. There are also special civic structures that add scoring multipliers to your ever-growing cityscape.
What are your thoughts? Tired of Point-Salady games? Can’t wait to play? How good will it be? All will be revealed when Point City releases in 2023.
