Calling all temporal agents! Looking to take your ‘decksploring’ to the next level? Then the Time Stories Transparent Set is exactly what you’ve been looking for. Providing upgrades to all dice and player pieces, this is the perfect opportunity to add bling to your adventures.
The Transparent Set is compatible with all Time Stories adventures and the dice can be used in addition to the wooden set from the base game so that more players can resolve their skill tests at the same time.
Made from crystal clear plastic, nothing is left to the imagination and all is on show. Although this is purely an accessory set containing no gameplay, it really is the ultimate upgrade kit for Time Stories.
Explore In Style
The transparent set comes in a beautifully mysterious box, with a glossed title and a window at the back where you can preview the contents. Inside you’ll find the following:
- 1 plastic Time Captain Die
- 1 plastic Time Token
- 1 plastic Group Token
- 8 plastic Agent Pawns
- 6 plastic Action Die
- 1 sheet of stickers
In case you were wondering, much like in the base game of Time Stories, the stickers are for customizing the Agent Pawns. Just take care when applying the stickers, as they are difficult to maneuver once applied to the pieces.
Thankfully, the stickers are already applied to the die, so there’s no need to worry about painfully lining the symbols up on each side. Which means you have even more time to spend playing your next Time Stories adventure.
Transparent Rolling
Roll up, roll up! Forget about the wooden die, our party will just be itching to roll these transparent die for skill tests. They look and sound amazing as they bounce across the board to their resting side. Although, thanks to the transparency, you can look through the dice to see what you could have won, which can add a sense of disappointment depending on what you rolled.
See Everything
In the core set, the wooden Agent Pawns had the habit of obscuring information on certain cards. No more! With the Transparent Set, you can rest assured that no information is lost under your player pieces. No more moving pieces to the side to be able to see what shield symbols you need to roll.
The same also applies for the transparent dice in this set. You can roll your dice onto the board without needing to worry about any information being lost to the solid wooden dice from the past core set.
Final Thoughts
Personally, I absolutely love the Time Stories Transparent Set. I’m a sucker for buying upgrades for my games, and this set added a charming look to the board. The pieces are cool to touch and they glisten in the light as you travel through each adventure.
In addition, the fact that no information on the board is covered by wooden pieces, is an instant winner for me. It takes nothing away from what’s happening in the game, and gives a classy feel to the game experience overall.
Whilst playing with friends and family, they all commented on how nice the pieces felt, and looked on the board. As well as how much nicer they were than the wooden tokens from the base set.
Some players who have purchased this set have reported chips in the plastic die which could affect the rolling and potentially damage the board. However, I’m happy to report that no such chips or damages were found on my pieces or die. Additionally, it’s also worth noting that the Time Stories Transparent Set seems to have had a limited print run. Unfortunately, this makes it very sought after, and hard to get hold of. So be sure to jump for it when you find it in stock.
Overall, I’m very impressed with this upgrade set and would probably invest in a second set just for the extra beautiful die. If you can get your hands on this Transparent Set, jump at the opportunity, you won’t be disappointed.
