Description
You and your colleagues have been hard at work reconstructing the mysterious temple floors in Menara. Everything was progressing smoothly. That was until the day of the solar eclipse. During this cosmic event, the temple took on new life. Runes on the temple floors began to activate, golden pillars were unearthed and new temple floors were discovered – ready to be reconstructed. There have also been tears of the gods sighted in the area. It seems the mysteries of Menara are far from fully solved.
Rituals & Ruins brings with it a plethora of new additions to add to Menara. It is a collection of 3 plug and play expansions that each bring with them new gameplay elements and challenges to overcome. There are also new construction plan cards that can be shuffled with the base cards, this adds new replayability to the game and offers new challenges in itself.
The Tears of the Gods adds crystal tokens to the game. Both red and blue. All of these crystals need to be placed on the rune slots on the temple floors before the end of the game in order to achieve victory (on top of the pre-existing requirements). You can place a tear by reducing your available pillars at the start of your turn, making the main building phase harder to fulfil.
The Rituals introduces 13 ritual cards to the game. These cards are shuffled at the start of the game and only one is revealed. The revealed ritual is an extra rule or stipulation that you have to follow during the entire game. These range from simple rule changes to game changing effects.
The golden columns add 2 golden pillars to the game. These are shorter than the others and act as any colour. They can not act as support for higher floor tiles however due to their size, and they can never be moved after being placed.
The Fate brings with it 8 new temple floor tiles. Each of these tiles have new rules and placement styles associated with them. For example: needing pillars to be placed in a certain order, pillars placed simultaneously or even pillars placed laying on their side.
