Description

When it was commissioned, Imperial Research Station 37 was home to nearly 10,000 scientists and researchers working on a vast array of biological and chemical projects. Then, six months before the outbreak of the war, Station 37 went dark. No escape pods were launched and all attempts at communication went unanswered. Only a solitary, repeating broadcast filled the silence: "This station is under quarantine - do not approach". When the war came, the station was forgotten, left to drift lifelessly in its empty system. Now, in the aftermath of the Last War, Station 37 has been rediscovered and its broadcast heard once more.

Quarantine 37 is a supplement for Stargrave in which players lead their crews into an abandoned space station, hunting for lost technology, unique research, and forgotten experiments. Compete with your opponents for these valuable resources across two competitive mini-campaigns, or venture into the vast maze of corridors and laboratories alone in the first Stargrave solo campaign. Also included are six new soldier types, new backgrounds and powers, terrifying additions to the bestiary, and a new advanced technology table packed with loot to help you in your adventures in the ravaged galaxy.

Quarantine 37 is the first supplement released for Joseph A. McCullough’s Stargrave skirmish game. It is based around an abandoned space station: Imperial Research Station 37, where 10,000 scientists and researchers used to work on various biological and chemical projects prior to the Last War. Now the station is eerily quiet, with only a short warning being broadcast on repeat: “This station is under quarantine – do not approach”. Players can send their crew into this mysterious space station on the hunt for lost technology and forgotten experiments.

What Has Been Added

Two new backgrounds are available for players to choose for either their captains or first mates. The Aristocrat seeks to amass great wealth for their dynasty. Their high status means they dress in the finest threads. They start with a free ship upgrade and receive bonus credits to build their crew. The Hunter stalks prey and harvests valuable items, often selling them for a high price on the black market. They can summon beasts, control animals, and are great at making crack shots and camouflaging themselves. Eight powers have been added that match really well with these new backgrounds, and can also be selected by existing ones.

Several new soldier types can be recruited, such as the Gunfighter, Q-Bot, and Ravaged Trooper. A deadly disease called ‘Hastian’s Plague’ can infect your soldiers if they suffer damage in combat from a creature with the Zombie Infection attribute. If infected, once per game your opponent can call for that soldier to make a Will Roll, and if they fail they are immediately replaced by a zombie.

Campaign Trail

You can compete with opponents for Imperial Research Station 37’s valuable resources across two mini-campaigns, each containing four scenarios. ‘The Shuffling Dead’ sees your crews delving deep into the station and needing to escape from a horde of plague zombies. ‘Strike From the Shadows’ has your crews facing off against a swarm of alien bugs attempting to herd you into their lair.

If you’d like to play a game of Stargrave on your own, Quarantine 37 includes the first solo campaign and some simple rules modifications.

This supplement also features additions to the bestiary, in the form of various types of alien bugs and zombies, along with an advanced technology table filled with all kinds of new loot to help you as you adventure across the ravaged galaxy.
